In the Premier Division, Dave Charles inflicted the first defeat of the season on Paul Welhams
by the narrowest of margins, 13-11 in the fifth, but it did not stop Grundy Park beating Cheshunt I 7-3.
A 9-1 defeat of Champions Hoddesdon I giving them a seemingly decisive 10 point lead over their rivals
with a match in hand. County Hall also went down 7-3 to Grundy Park I and then lost 6-4 to third
place Cheshunt I to remain in fourth place, although they do have two matches in hand and are only 12 points
behind. HRC I and Cheshunt II remain in the bottom two, Terry Smith and Peter Leo defeating Tony Garrett
and Barry Stoller 12-10 in the fifth to give Cheshunt II a 5-5 draw at Hoddesdon II. In Division 1, Cheshunt III lead, but have played up to three matches more than their rivals. 8-2 wins over Allenburys and Pramastars I helped them stay top, but they went down 7-3 to HRC II who although in fourth place, 26 points behind, have played three matches less than the leaders. Cheshunt IV are second, ten points behind with a match in hand, James Pugh winning all three in a 5-5 draw with HRC II. Grundy Park II are fifteen points behind with two matches in hand after Richard Fellows won all three in a hard-fought 6-4 victory at Pramastars I. In Division 2, Hoddesdon III lead Grundy Park III by 18 points and Hoddesdon IV by 27 points but have played two and three matches more respectively. Dave Blakes has won the last twelve for the leaders in four consecutive 7-3 victories. Wayne Boddy defeated Chris Day 17-15 in the fifth, but Cheshunt V still went down 7-3 to Pramastars II to remain bottom, eight points behind HRC III having played one match less. |
