Iain McAllister
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Iain MacAllister.  Although Iain played in the Harlow League for a number of years, he was also instrumental in Furneux Pelham's entry into the Hertford League.
Our thoughts are with Annette and Bruce, fellow league players who frequently played with Iain.

League News
Twenty-eight points from the last three matches have left HRC A on the brink of winning the Premier Division.  Four points from the final match will seal the title, irrespective of the results of their nearest challengers.  Three wins for John Foley earned Grundy Park A a 6-4 win over Cheshunt B in the battle of the bottom two.
Water Lane Phoenix A are in a strong position in Division 1, thirteen points ahead of HRC C, both with two matches left.  The two teams fought out a 5-5 draw, no player unbeaten on the night.  St Andrews A are bottom, but have matches in hand over teams above them.
Cheshunt D are eight points ahead of Water Lane Phoenix B in Division 2, both with two matches left including a head to head that will go a long way to decide the title.

Divisional Cup News
Congratulations to the Water Lane Club who completed a clean sweep in the Divisional Cup Finals.
David Aitken, Alex Rodriguez & Taylor Burton of Water Lane Phoenix B overcame a spirited Pramastars B 6-3 to retain the MSD Trophy (Division 2).
John Manley, Shaun Gardner & Arrow Lam (Water Lane A) thrashed Kidston A 8-1 to retain the Creasey Cup (Premier Division).
Simon Mok, Gary Thurston & Isaac Shulton (Water Lane Phoenix A) completed the treble after defeating HRC C 7-2 to win the Clifford Troll cup (Division 1).

Handicap Cup News
Mike Shakespeare won 21-20, 20-21,21-20 to give Second Division Aston a 4-2 lead at HRC B, but the Premier Division team won the next three to go through 5-4.  Cheshunt D continued their good league form, defeating Pramastars A from the division above 6-3 before going out to Grundy Park A.  Grundy Park B won the deciding doubles to squeeze past Cheshunt A.  They then defeated both their A and C teams to reach the final where they will be hoping to deny Water Lane A a cup double in the final on Friday 19 April at Stanstead Abbotts Parish Hall.
Postponed/Rearranged Matches
That old chestnut!  Although the season is entering its last week, there are still a number of matches still to be played.  Obviously there have been issues this season and some matches have already been forfeited as teams have cancelled and been unable to agree a rearranged date.  Hopefully, matches will be played, even if teams only have two players.  The season will continue until the end of April to allow as many of these matches to be played.
There have also been issues of miscommunication where teams have turned up not knowing their opponents were unable to make it.  If not already done, maybe team captains could confirm with each other that the match is on to avoid a wasted journey.

And finally...
